Since 1979 the Restaurant Pizzeria HELVETIA serves a genuine Italian pizza, artfully cooked in the traditional wood oven and firmly anchored to the “Neapolitan” school, with S.T.G. (Guaranteed Traditional Speciality)  certification. Along with the pizzeria, the restaurant is focused on the dishes of the Italian culinary tradition with special attention to  the lake’s produces.

During the warm season in the absolute calm of our terrace you can enjoy our tasty specialities, rigorously prepared at the moment, surrounded by the breathtaking panorama offered by our beloved lake, with in front of you the Comacina Island and the Balbianello peninsula (and the majestic mountains that stand above it.)

The spirit of Helvetia pizza restaurant is animated by a culinary tradition that is certainly not meant to impress, as it is anchored to the local products and to the authentic culinary tradition of our land, but that will always satisfy our clients, as it has done for more than 35 years.

The cuisine of the Como

The shed is a typical fish of the Como lake used in local cuisine.
The shed is a parent of anchovies, was trapped centuries ago during the thawing in waters of the Como lake. It can be cooked in different ways: dried sheds, so called missultin.Once they were important feed for the Como lake’s inhabitants; a particular handmade process allowed a long-life conservation. Then the were put in salt and conservated in traditional boxes called latta. At present this fish is served with polenta (another peculiar dish of the Northern Italy) or as a dressing per for pasta. The shed in carpione is another typical dish to taste: at first fried, then pickled with an onion, different vegetables and herbs: actually every house has a proper recipe for cooking it, and keeps it jealously in a secret!

Another typical dish of the Como lake is a rice with perch. On the contrary of the shed, it is a poor dish to and all. It is a very nourishing first course, to be considered a prince dish of the Lario cuisine.

The Restaurant Pizzeria Helvetia was opened in Lezzeno in 1979. It offers  pizza alla napoletana STG cooked in wood oven. The pizzeria  was opened with help by Annibale, the first pizzaiolo DOC who has brought the pizza alla napoletana in Bellagio in the first years after the Second World War.
